Private water wells follow state rules in Hunt County
Private well questions can show up even near Greenville or Commerce. The key detail is local oversight. TWDB's Groundwater Management Area 8 table lists Hunt County under "No District-County" rows, including the Woodbine Aquifer.
That means there is no local groundwater conservation district page to check for Hunt County well registration or pumping rules. The state still matters. TCEQ keeps water-well guidance and a Water Well Report Viewer with well records, depth, construction, and driller information.
When you are looking at rural land, ask whether public water reaches the property. If the answer is no, look up nearby well records and test the water during the option period.
