TexasSure fee

A $1 yearly line that supports the state's insurance-check system.

A two-year registration includes two years of this fee.

Inspection replacement fee

Texas ended annual safety inspections for most non-commercial vehicles. This fee is tied to that change.

It can still appear even though the old safety inspection is gone.

Emissions county

A county where emissions testing can still apply.

Large metro counties are the common check.

EV fee

A state fee for fully electric vehicles.

TxDMV lists annual and new two-year EV fee amounts.

New Texas residents generally have 30 days to register through the county tax office. For emissions, eligible gasoline vehicles are generally model ages 2-24; electric-only vehicles, motorcycles, and diesel vehicles are exempt. Bexar County testing starts November 1, 2026, when the vehicle next needs registration. Check DPS's current emissions notice and TxDMV's new-resident instructions.
