Greenville, Texas

Set on the Blackland Prairie of Hunt County about 32 miles east of McKinney, Greenville grew up as a cotton town on some of the richest farming soil in North Texas. In the early twentieth century it stood among the leading cotton-shipping centers in the region, a history preserved today at the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum, which honors both the crop and the Hunt County-raised soldier who became the most decorated American combat serviceman of World War II. The former Majors Field, a wartime airbase east of town, later anchored a long-running defense and aerospace industry that remains part of the local economy.

Property here runs through the Hunt Central Appraisal District and the county tax office — the homestead exemption, the appraisal cap, protests, and any MUD, PID, or special districts all sit at the parcel level. The Hunt County notes below cover the practical details, with the official county directory for the appraisal district and tax office.
