Outdoor burning can be banned during dry conditions

Burn bans in Texas are local. A county judge or commissioners court can limit outdoor burning when drought makes fire danger worse.

Hunt County keeps burn-ban information under its Emergency Management and Fire Marshal area. Texas A&M Forest Service also tracks active county bans on a statewide map.

Check right before you light a pile. North Texas can go from soggy to dry fast, and last week's answer may not be today's answer. Keep the county page handy during dry months.
