Sylvan Beach Park Gives Harris County a Galveston Bay Shoreline Stop

Sylvan Beach Park, at 636 North Bayshore Drive in La Porte, is the easiest proof that Harris County touches Galveston Bay. It is a Precinct 2 park right on the water, open daily, on the southeast edge of the county.

It is built for a day out rather than a quick stroll: a boat launch, fishing, a picnic area, a playground, a pavilion, and rentable space for events. There is a historical feature on site too — Sylvan Beach has been a Bay-side gathering spot for generations of Houston-area families.

For the east and southeast side of the county, it is a practical place to check before a picnic, a waterfront walk, or a fishing trip. Confirm hours, pavilion details, and any closures with Harris County Precinct 2 first.
