Independence Park Connects Missouri City to the GCWA Trail
Independence Park gives Missouri City a wide-open water view without a big park day. It wraps a nearly 67-acre lake with a 0.98-mile walking and jogging loop, a fishing pier, and a boat ramp under a no-wake rule — in fact the city built the first public boat ramp in Fort Bend County here, with help from a Texas Parks and Wildlife grant.
It's also a trailhead. The park anchors one end of Missouri City's GCWA Trail, a 1.2-mile crushed-granite hike-and-bike path that runs over to the Recreation and Tennis Center, so a short visit can stretch into a longer walk or ride.
That mix is the point: a quiet water-view stop, a quick lap, a place to drop a kayak, or the start of a trail outing, depending on the day. Check Missouri City's park and trail pages before you bring a boat or plan a group.
