Buffalo Run Park Gives Missouri City Lakes, Trails, and Boat Access

Buffalo Run Park started as a stormwater detention project for Missouri City and turned into one of the best little water parks in Fort Bend County. Its four lakes (47.5 acres of surface water in all) are connected and actually navigable by boat, which is unusual for a city park, with a no-wake rule keeping things slow and quiet for everyone.

Around the water you get 1.9 miles of walking and jogging trails, a public boat ramp, two floating fishing piers, an observation tower, a community garden, sand volleyball, a playground, and pavilions. Birders come for the waterfowl, and geocachers work the trails.

You really don't have to drive to Lake Houston or Brazos Bend to get on the water in Fort Bend. You can launch a kayak, paddle the connected lakes, and be back home for lunch. Just check Missouri City's rules and the no-wake limit before you put in.
