Fort Worth Botanic Garden Gives the Cultural District a Living Landmark
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is part of the outdoor story around the Cultural District, just southwest of downtown. It is the oldest botanic garden in Texas, with more than 100 acres holding 23 specialty gardens.
Two are landmarks in their own right: the Lower Rose Garden, built as a public works project in the 1930s, and the 7.5-acre Japanese Garden, a strolling garden of koi ponds, bridges, cherry trees, and Japanese maples. Altogether the grounds hold thousands of plant species.
For people near the Cultural District, West 7th, or the museum area, the garden adds quiet space and plant life to a busy part of town. Check the official city and garden information for admission, hours, events, and access rules.
