A Willacy County Permit Starts With the Inspector, Not the Payment Desk
If Willacy County permit rules apply to the property, start with the building inspector at 956-689-3393. The inspector's office is at 576 W. Main Avenue in Raymondville. Separate forms cover homes, commercial buildings, electrical work, plumbing and gas, mechanical work, septic systems, demolition, manufactured homes, moving, and underground or utility work. Floodplain and plat materials follow their own county documents.
For residential work, approval comes before construction. Starting the work before approval can double the application fee. Bring the address and a plain description of the job to the inspector so you can identify the right packet before money or materials are committed.
The finished application and payment go to a different address: the Willacy County Tax Office at 192 N. 3rd Street, Room 202. As checked July 29, 2026, permit drop-off hours were Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Payment was cash or check, with checks payable to Willacy County TAC. Permit jurisdiction can turn on the project address, so include it in the opening call.
