Room 202 Handles Willacy's Private-Sale Title Transfers

For an ordinary private-party purchase, apply for the Texas title within 30 days of the sale. The basic counter checklist is the properly assigned title, a completed Form 130-U, a current government-issued photo ID, and the title and registration fees. Bring proof of insurance when title and registration are handled together. An inspection record, original lien release, power of attorney, or another supporting paper belongs in the packet when that fact applies.

Form 130-U needs the buyer's original signature. The seller's signature on that form may be original, reproduced, or faxed. A buyer who qualifies for a title without registration can apply without proof of insurance. That does not register the vehicle for road use.

Willacy County handles the transfer at 192 N. 3rd Street, Room 202, in Raymondville. Call before the trip when the title has a lien, a missing signature, an estate, a gift, or another unusual fact. Those cases can change the paperwork, but they do not pause the 30-day title clock.
