Baytown Nature Center Sits on a Peninsula Between Three Bays
Baytown Nature Center is a good place to see that Harris County reaches all the way to bay water. It is a 500-acre peninsula on the east side of the county, nearly surrounded by Burnet Bay, Crystal Bay, and Scott's Bay, with water on almost every side.
The habitat mix is what makes it worth the trip: hardwood uplands, tidal marsh, and freshwater wetlands stitched together. It is a stop on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail and draws hundreds of resident and migratory bird species, with fishing piers, a butterfly garden, and a children's nature area for visitors.
For people around Baytown, La Porte, and the Ship Channel side, it is an easy place to get out on the bay shore for birds, fishing, or a quiet walk from sunrise to sunset. Check the City of Baytown's pages for hours, fees, and programs.
