State Parks Near Fort Worth and Tarrant County

A spring-fed lake, a climbing crag, dinosaur tracks, and lakeside prairie all sit within day-trip reach of Fort Worth. Cleburne State Park has the small lake and wooded trails. Lake Mineral Wells adds rock climbing. Dinosaur Valley follows tracks in the Paluxy River. Cedar Hill has prairie beside Joe Pool Lake. Tarrant County has no state park of its own, but it makes a good starting point.
