South Longview Has a Targeted Homebuilding Incentive

South Longview is one place where the city is trying to steer new homes, not just wait for them. The South Longview Incentive Program, or SLIP, sits with the city's building, planning, permit, and repair tools.

The program is aimed at new single-family homes that will be owner-occupied. Rental property is outside the program. It works inside a mapped South Longview area. It is not a countywide offer, and it is not a sure yes for every project.

The possible help is practical: city fees tied to water and sewer taps, building permits, platting, rezoning, variances, re-plats, or site-plan review may be waived when the project fits the rules. If money is available, demolition and debris removal can also be part of the package.

For a buyer or small builder, the map is the useful part. Two lots can both feel like Longview and still sit on different sides of the line. If you want to build a modest house or revive a vacant lot, look at the SLIP area before you price the work.

The local meaning is easy to picture. A city policy turns into new roofs, porches, driveways, and families on a set of South Longview streets. Vacant parcels can get a second look from small builders.
