Roof Questions Matter After a High Plains Storm

National Weather Service records show what one storm can do. On June 24, 2019, storms near Lubbock dropped hail from quarter size to golf-ball size. Some places in and near the county saw hail as large as a baseball or softball. One storm cannot tell you what happened at a house, so get a roof inspection.

Before closing, learn the roof's age and shape. Then ask the insurer two plain questions. Does the policy pay replacement cost or actual cash value? What is the wind-and-hail deductible in dollars? The Texas Department of Insurance says an old or worn roof may get less coverage. A company may refuse roof coverage if the roof is in poor shape.
