River Legacy Parks Protect Trinity River Woods in Arlington

River Legacy Parks is Arlington's big river park — about 1,300 acres of bottomland forest, wetland, and prairie following the Trinity River across the north side of the city. It is a rare stretch of river woods kept public in the middle of a dense metro.

There are roughly 8 miles of paved hike-and-bike trail through the greenbelt plus a separate 10-mile mountain-bike trail in the woods, along with picnic areas, playgrounds, and overlooks down to the river. The River Legacy Living Science Center sits next door with hands-on exhibits and short nature trails.

For families, runners, riders, and anyone looking at central or north Arlington, River Legacy is useful local context. Check the City of Arlington's park page for trail rules, hours, and facility details.
