Quintana Has a Bird Sanctuary by the Gulf
Most people pass through Quintana for the Gulf and miss the trees. The coastal village has a Neotropical Bird Sanctuary on Lamar Street. TPWD lists it on the San Bernard Loop of the Great Texas Wildlife Trails.
For songbirds crossing the Gulf in spring and fall, trees near the water can be the first safe place to land. That makes the small sanctuary useful for birders already headed to the beach or San Bernard refuge.
It is a day-use stop with no overnight use and no large visitor center. Use TPWD's San Bernard Loop page for directions and current trail context.
