Christmas Bay Has a Marked Coastal Paddling Trail

Christmas Bay sits at the western edge of the Galveston Bay complex, a shallow, protected bay near San Luis Pass. TPWD has mapped a 19.1-mile paddling trail that circles it, marked by 29 numbered GPS markers so you can follow it without guessing.

You do not have to commit to the whole loop. TPWD also lays out shorter options of 3.8 and 10.3 miles, which makes Christmas Bay a friendly half-day for a kayak or canoe. Along the way you pass oyster reefs, salt marsh, and the bird life that fills this part of the coast.

Check TPWD's trail page before you launch. It lists access points, maps, and shallow-water cautions (sun, wind, insects, and the stingray shuffle when you wade) so the trip does not depend on memory or an old social post.
