Tax Payment
Five Ways to Pay Your Jefferson County Property Tax Bill
The Jefferson County Tax Office gives you several ways to pay. You can pay online by credit card or e-check, mail a check to the Beaumont P.O. box, pay by phone, or walk in to one of three offices: the Jefferson County Courthouse in Beaumont, the Mid-County office, or the Port Arthur sub-courthouse. Mailed payments are posted by the date the U.S. Postal Service cancels the envelope, so the postmark is what counts, not when it arrives.
The office also lets you make partial payments, which can help if you can't cover the whole bill at once. But any balance still owing on February 1 gets penalized, so a partial payment slows the damage rather than stopping it. Whatever method you use, put your property account number on the payment so it lands on the right account.
One common mix-up: if your question is about your home's value or an exemption, that's the Appraisal District (JCAD), not the Tax Office. The Tax Office handles the bill, receipts, and collection. Confirm current payment methods and any fees at jeffcotax.com before you send money.
