Texas Porch
Houston / Upper Gulf Coast

Groves, Texas

Groves is a city in Jefferson County on the upper Texas Gulf Coast, part of the Golden Triangle industrial area near the Neches River and about 15 miles east of Beaumont. It developed in the early twentieth century as workers settled near the oil refineries of nearby Port Arthur and Port Neches, and refining and petrochemicals remain central to the local economy. The city is also known for the pecan trees planted across it in its early years, a legacy celebrated at an annual pecan festival.

Property here runs through the Jefferson Central Appraisal District and the county tax office — the homestead exemption, the appraisal cap, protests, and any MUD, PID, or special districts all sit at the parcel level. The Jefferson County notes below cover the practical details, with the official county directory for the appraisal district and tax office.
