Property Tax Bills Are Due January 31

Washington County does not have you write a separate check to each taxing unit. The county, the city, the school district and the smaller districts pool their billing into Consolidated Tax Collections of Washington County, so one statement covers them all. Make the payment out to that name and mail it to P.O. Box 2199, Brenham, TX 77834-2199. Bills go out in mid-October, and you have until January 31 of the following year to pay without penalty.

Miss that date and penalty and interest start the next day, whether or not the bill ever reached you. Never receiving it is not a legal excuse for paying late. If you are 65 or older or disabled and cannot pay on time, you can file to defer collection on your homestead.
