Deer Hunting in Washington County Follows North Zone Rules

Four white-tailed deer is the season limit here, and how you fill it is hemmed in: no more than two bucks, no more than two antlerless does. Of those bucks, only one can have an inside spread of 13 inches or greater. The other has to carry at least one unbranched antler. It is a rule built to push hunters toward younger or spike bucks and leave the wide-racked ones standing.

Bowhunters get the woods first, usually from late September. The general season opens in November and runs into early January, with youth-only and muzzleloader windows tucked into January. Every antlerless deer comes with paperwork: tag the harvest with TPWD inside 24 hours through the Texas Hunt and Fish app or online, or it does not count as legal.
