New Montgomery County Residents: Register Within 30 Days
TxDMV gives new Texas residents 30 days to register a vehicle. In Montgomery County, that first trip goes through a county tax office.
Use Form 130-U. Its full name is Application for Texas Title and/or Registration. Montgomery County is an emissions county, so the vehicle must pass that inspection first.
Bring proof of ownership. Bring Texas liability insurance, photo ID, and the inspection record too. New residents do not use the grocery-store booths. Those booths handle only some routine renewals.
