Tax Office Timing

Denton County stops new-resident and title work at 4 p.m.

A Denton County tax office can have its lights on and its doors unlocked while the title window is already shut for the day. New-resident services and title transfers wrap up at 4 p.m. daily, even on days when the office stays open later for registration renewals and other quick business.

So the cutoff is its own clock, separate from the posted office hours. If you are moving in, buying a car, fixing title paperwork, or transferring an out-of-state vehicle, treat 4 p.m. as a hard stop.

Go early, and go with complete documents in hand. A return trip the next morning is the usual price of showing up at 3:50 with a form half-filled.
