The Greenbelt links Ray Roberts Dam toward Lake Lewisville
The Greenbelt Corridor is a 20-mile trail along the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. It runs from below Ray Roberts Dam toward the headwaters of Lake Lewisville. About 12 miles are open to horseback riders, and about 10 miles serve cyclists and hikers.
Texas Parks and Wildlife operates the corridor. Hunting and firearms are not allowed there, so it stays a quieter walking and riding route. It is the green thread between the county's two big lake systems.
Because it sits in river bottom, storms can close or flood parts of the trail. Trail status is part of planning a Greenbelt day.
