Mirador de la Flor Keeps Selena on the Bayfront
Mirador de la Flor works even if you do not know the street grid. Go to 600 North Shoreline Boulevard, face the bay, and there she is: Selena Quintanilla-Perez held in public memory where the city meets the water.
The mirador is part of the city's public art collection. That feels right. Selena's story belongs to Corpus Christi families, Tejano music history, and visitors who come to the bayfront because the music still matters.
The location does some of the work. The memorial is not kept indoors. It sits in the regular public walk, where joggers, families, fans, and new visitors can all pass by.
Local identity here is bigger than beaches and storms. It is also a singer from Corpus Christi whose memorial has become part of the everyday waterfront.
