Paddling

Lake Seguin Has a Beginner-Friendly Paddling Trail

Lake Seguin hands the county a calm place to paddle right inside town. You put in at Max Starcke Park West, near the Bowl Pavilion, and head out from there.

The marked route runs four miles, laid out for beginning or novice paddlers, with no shuttle to arrange and nothing to portage around. Plan on anywhere from one to three hours on the water — it shifts with the water level, the flow rate, the wind, and how long you let yourself drift.

That spread in timing is the tell: this is still moving river water, not a swimming pool. Read the water level and the weather the morning you go, and the Lake Seguin trail makes a good case for how this town treats the Guadalupe as everyday public space rather than something to look at from a bridge.
