The Famous Trout Water Sits Upstream of Guadalupe County

The river flows through Guadalupe County, but the TPWD trout map does not start here. It covers the water from Canyon Dam to New Braunfels, upstream in Comal County. Guadalupe River State Park is a second stocking site. That park is outside Guadalupe County too.

TPWD posts a winter list with the sites and dates. Anglers 17 and older usually need a fishing license and freshwater endorsement. Those are not required inside a Texas state park. Parts of the tailrace also have their own lure, size, and bag rules, so match the rule to the place you fish.
