Harris County Homeowners Can Manage Their Property Records Online

HCAD keeps several property chores online. A Harris County owner can file a protest, rendition, or exemption from the online-services page. The same page points to personal account tools and public data. The mobile app can send a residential homestead application. It asks for images of both sides of the Texas driver's license and lets the owner check the status later.

The property search helps before a house tour. HCAD's search help explains searches by street number, ZIP code, and advanced fields. After you open a record, the Values on Same Street link can show nearby appraisals. That gives you a better check than a listing sheet alone.

Exemption labels can change the story on a tax bill. HCAD lists the same homestead form for regular homestead, over-65, disability, surviving-spouse, and 100% disabled veteran exemptions. It also warns that a capped value can jump after a sale. The seller's tax line is a clue, not a promise.
