Game Rooms Have a Tarrant County Permit Process

Tarrant County's Sheriff's Office says Commissioners Court approved game room regulations on November 12, 2019, and approved an amendment on February 11, 2020. The county page links the current regulations, a permit application, and a request-for-inspection form. The regulations apply to establishments with six or more amusement redemption machines, and the county lists a $1,000 permit fee.

A game room applicant should not treat paperwork as permission to open. The county page also lists city contacts for several municipalities, including Everman, Forest Hill, and Fort Worth, so a site inside a city may have both city and county routing. Start with the Sheriff's Game Room Compliance Unit before signing a lease or moving machines.
