County Floodplain Permits Come First in Unincorporated Tarrant County
A new home's floor must sit at least two feet above the base flood elevation. The county permit is free, but the work needed for it may not be. The file may need an elevation certificate, survey, flood study, or FEMA map change.
Start with the county permit page and FEMA map. Then call Tarrant County Engineering Services at 817-884-1250 to check the parcel. A site inside a city may use a different permit office. For a violation, the county may seek a civil penalty of up to $100 for each act and each day.
