Harris County's Flood District Has Its Own Maps and Projects
Harris County drains through bayous, creeks, and man-made channels. The Flood Control District tracks about 2,500 miles of them. It also tracks more than 300 stormwater basins. Its work includes channel projects, new basins, upkeep, and land purchases.
Use the district's maps to find your watershed and nearby projects. Use FEMA's Map Service Center for the flood insurance map. Ask an insurer or lender for an official flood-zone finding. The tools have different jobs, so check both during a home search.
