Orange County's FEMA Flood Maps Have Been Updated
Orange County sits near the Gulf Coast and along the Sabine River, making flooding a serious concern. FEMA announced revised preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for Orange County in January 2025. These maps may shift some properties into or out of high-risk flood zones.
Your flood zone affects whether your lender requires flood insurance and how much it costs. You can look up your property's flood zone by address at the FEMA Flood Map Service Center. If you disagree with how your property is mapped, FEMA has a formal process to appeal. Your flood risk may not match your neighbor's, so check the map yourself.
