Bridge City, Texas

Bridge City sits in Orange County on the upper Gulf Coast of Texas, about 17 miles east of Beaumont, on low ground between the Neches River and Cow Bayou. The city takes its name from the Rainbow Bridge, a tall span across the Neches built in the late 1930s to carry ships toward the port of Beaumont. Its low elevation near the coast has left it exposed to hurricanes, and it was severely flooded by Hurricane Ike in 2008 before rebuilding.

Property here runs through the Orange Central Appraisal District and the county tax office — the homestead exemption, the appraisal cap, protests, and any MUD, PID, or special districts all sit at the parcel level. The Orange County notes below cover the practical details, with the official county directory for the appraisal district and tax office.
