Preliminary FEMA flood maps are ready for review in parts of Denton County
A Special Flood Hazard Area has a 1% chance of a flood in any year. That does not mean one flood every 100 years. Many borrowers need flood insurance when a building in this area has a mortgage from a lender covered by federal rules.
FEMA's June 2026 release covers parts of Denton, Fort Worth, Haslet, Justin, New Fairview, Roanoke, Dish, Northlake, Ponder, and unincorporated Denton County. These maps are proposed, not yet in force. Use the Map Service Center for the map in force today. The county floodplain office can explain the proposed changes, review schedule, and permit map.
