Driver's Licenses in Tarrant County Are a DPS Matter

The Tarrant County Tax Office does not issue driver's licenses. For a new license or a renewal, you need to go to a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) office. Call DPS at 817-294-1075 to find the nearest location in Tarrant County.

People sometimes go to the wrong office. The county Tax Office handles vehicle registration and title transfers, not licenses. DPS handles licenses, not registration.
