Tarrant Motor Vehicle Branches Handle Disabled Placards

A disabled parking placard or plate comes through the county tax office system here, listed right alongside registration and titles as a motor vehicle service at the Tarrant branches. People sometimes go looking for it at DPS by mistake; it's the tax office.

The form is TxDMV's VTR-214. A doctor or other health care provider fills in the disability statement, and then the completed application goes to the county tax office. One detail that saves you a step: when you renew a permanent placard, you don't have to round up the doctor's statement all over again. That part is a one-time thing.

Branches differ in what they offer, from drop boxes to which services are on-site, so it's worth pulling up the Tarrant locations page to pick the right one, and bring the filled-out VTR-214 plus your ID so you're not turned away at the counter.
