Fort Bend Disabled Parking Placards Go Through the Tax Office
A disabled parking placard in Fort Bend County is handled through the county tax office, not a doctor's office or the DMV website alone. The application is state Form VTR-214, and for a first-time placard a doctor or other listed health-care provider has to fill out the disability statement before you turn it in. Then the completed form goes to the county tax office with any fee.
It helps to know which version you actually need, because the form covers several. A red placard is temporary (six months or less); a blue one is permanent and renews every four years. There are also disabled license plates, replacements for a lost placard, and a separate disabled-veteran plate that can carry the wheelchair symbol.
On a permanent-placard renewal you usually don't need the doctor's section filled out again — that's mainly a first-application step. Check the current VTR-214 instructions before you go so you bring exactly what Fort Bend's tax office needs and skip a second trip.
