Both White-Tailed and Mule Deer Are Hunted Here

A Lubbock County deer tag can put two rule sets in the same truck. For the 2025-26 Outdoor Annual, white-tailed deer follow the North Zone: archery runs Sept. 27-Oct. 31, 2025, and the general season runs Nov. 1, 2025-Jan. 4, 2026. The white-tailed limit is three deer, with no more than one buck and no more than two antlerless, all seasons combined.

Mule deer are tighter. The county sits under the Panhandle mule deer rules, with archery Sept. 27-Nov. 21, 2025, and a general season Nov. 22-Dec. 7, 2025. The bag limit is one buck all seasons combined, and the outside spread has to reach 20 inches. A spike is not a workaround unless the outside spread still reaches that mark.

Read those as separate rules, not one blended deer rule. A whitetail buck and a mule deer buck do not answer to the same limit, season, or antler test.
