Two different offices handle your property taxes

Caldwell CAD, or CCAD, appraises taxable property and handles exemptions. It also sends and collects local property-tax bills. Its office is at 211 Bufkin Lane in Lockhart.

A value protest starts with CCAD. If the two sides do not agree, the appraisal review board hears the case. That board is separate from the appraisal district.

The county Tax Assessor-Collector does not collect property taxes here. That office handles vehicle titles and registration. An easy memory trick is property at Bufkin Lane, vehicles at South Main.
