Lockhart State Park offers camping, fishing, and a nine-hole golf course

Lockhart State Park grew to about 453 acres in 2026 after TPWD added two neighboring properties. Its familiar core still gathers around Clear Fork Creek, where visitors can camp, hike, swim in season, and fish without a license inside the park.

The nine-hole course is the last remaining golf course in the Texas State Parks system. WPA crews did most of the course work in the 1930s, while CCC crews built park roads, bridges, check dams, and the hilltop recreation hall. You can still move through both programs' handiwork in one afternoon.

Golf requires a tee time and a same-day park pass; Wednesday is the course's maintenance closure. TPWD says the park often reaches capacity, so camping and day-use reservations are sensible during busy seasons.
