DISH, Texas

DISH is a small town in Denton County in North Texas, roughly 12 miles west of Denton in the rolling countryside north of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Originally called Clark, the town accepted a deal in 2005 to rename itself DISH in exchange for free satellite television service for residents, a change that drew national attention. It remains a very small rural community set among fields and scattered development.

Property here runs through the Denton Central Appraisal District and the county tax office — the homestead exemption, the appraisal cap, protests, and any MUD, PID, or special districts all sit at the parcel level. The Denton County notes below cover the practical details, with the official county directory for the appraisal district and tax office.
