DCAD sets the value; the Denton County Tax Office collects most bills
The Denton Central Appraisal District, or DCAD, appraises property and handles exemptions and protests. The county, city, school district, and any special districts set their own tax rates. The Denton County Tax Office combines and collects taxes for the units it serves, so most owners receive one statement. A unit the county does not serve may bill separately.
If you disagree with the appraised value, file the protest with DCAD at 3911 Morse St. Exemption applications also go there. Questions about a consolidated bill or payment go to the Tax Office at 1505 E. McKinney St. The Tax Office does not decide your value or exemption.
