Wildfire Is a Serious Hazard in the Panhandle

Around Amarillo, fire weather can change fast. NWS Amarillo keeps a local fire-weather page with red-flag warnings, rangeland fire danger, drought links, and wind tools.

Before you burn brush or debris, check the day's outdoor-burning rules and fire danger. Texas A&M Forest Service tracks active wildfires, fire danger, and county outdoor-burning limits. The Forest Service says those local limits come from a county judge or commissioners court.
