Severe Storms Can Bring Hail and High Wind
The National Weather Service calls a storm severe when it brings hail at least one inch wide, wind of at least 58 mph, or a tornado. Strong Potter County storms can also bring lightning and fast-rising water.
For a home, ask the seller for the property's CLUE claim report and look at the roof. For a used car, check the Texas title record and get an inspection. A repair that looks clean may not tell the whole story.
Coverage depends on the policy. Ask how the home policy treats wind and hail. For a car, ask if comprehensive coverage pays for storm damage and what deductible applies. NWS Amarillo and Amarillo Alerts are the local sources when weather starts to build.
