Most Wichita County renewals no longer need a safety inspection
Texas still uses one registration sticker, but the inspection step changed. Since January 1, 2025, most personal cars and trucks no longer need a safety inspection before registration.
Emissions checks are separate. Some Texas counties still need them. Wichita County is not one of those counties. Commercial vehicles follow different inspection rules.
The local registration counter is the Wichita County Tax Office at 600 Scott Avenue, Suite 103, in Wichita Falls. Bring current insurance, ID, and payment. TxDMV or the tax office can tell you if another document applies to your case.
