Parking Placards

Disabled Parking Placards Are a One-Form Trip to the Wichita County Tax Office

If a disability has made parking a daily struggle, the placard that solves it is a single form: TxDMV's VTR-214, the application for a persons-with-disabilities placard or plate. The part that needs a little planning is the medical section, where a licensed physician has to certify the disability, so get that signed before you make the trip rather than after.

You file it locally at the Wichita County Tax Office, 600 Scott Avenue, Suite 103, in downtown Wichita Falls. A temporary placard carries a small fee; a permanent placard is free. You can ask for one hanging placard, a set, or disabled license plates, depending on what fits how you get around.

One rule is worth taking seriously: the placard only counts when the person it belongs to is actually in the vehicle, whether they're driving or being driven. Lending it to a family member to grab a closer spot while you wait at home is misuse, and the state treats it as such, with fines that run up to $1,250 plus as much as 50 hours of community service.
