Vehicle Registration in Travis County: Two Steps, One Sticker

Travis County registration still starts with an emissions test for many vehicles. Texas dropped the annual safety inspection for non-commercial vehicles on January 1, 2025. Travis is one of 17 counties that still requires a passing emissions test.

After that test, registration can be renewed online, by mail, or in person through the Travis County Tax Office. The main office is at 2433 Ridgepoint Drive in Austin.
