Toll Roads

Austin-area toll roads are a normal part of Travis driving

Driving around Travis County often means deciding whether a toll is worth it. TxDOT's toll-road page lists the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) in Austin and identifies 183A Toll, 290 Toll, the MoPac Express Lanes, the 71 Toll Lane, 45SW Toll, 183 Toll, and the 183 Express Lanes as CTRMA facilities.

Some of these are all-toll roads; others are tolled lanes running beside free general-purpose lanes. CTRMA describes the 183 Toll as an 8-mile route through east Austin that is the main road to and from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, and the 290 Toll as a 6-mile road from US 183 to SH 130.

Before committing to a commute, signing a lease, or picking a route to work, check official toll maps and rates. A short-looking Austin-area drive can feel very different once you factor in tolls, frontage roads, and peak-hour traffic.
