Austin-area toll roads are a normal part of Travis driving

Driving in Travis County often means deciding whether a toll road is worth it. TxDOT names the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority as the operator for several Austin-area toll facilities.

Those include 183A Toll, 290 Toll, the MoPac Express Lanes, the 71 Toll Lane, 45SW Toll, 183 Toll, and the 183 Express Lanes. Some are all-toll roads. Others are tolled lanes beside free lanes.

For daily life, the difference matters. A short-looking commute can feel different once tolls, frontage roads, and peak-hour traffic are part of the route.
