Texas Vehicle Registration and Inspection in Comal County

Since January 1, 2025, Texas has dropped the safety inspection step for non-commercial cars and trucks. Comal County sits outside the 17 Texas emissions counties. A standard passenger car registered there does not need an emissions test.

Registration still runs through TxDMV or the Comal County Tax Office. You can renew online, by mail, or in person. For an office visit, bring proof of current liability insurance. TxDMV still puts an inspection replacement fee on renewal notices, so read the fee lines during renewal.
