A Groundwater District Regulates Wells in Comal County

Many rural homes draw from the Trinity Aquifer. Still, a well crew cannot start just because you own the land. The Comal Trinity district calls for written approval before drilling a new well or changing an old one.

A home or stock well may be exempt when its use and pump size fit district rules. That can remove a pumping permit, fee, or meter rule. It does not remove the approval needed before drilling.

Other wells face rules for permits, meters, reports, and pumping fees. The planned use and pump size, not the word 'small,' decide which path fits.
